This is such a comprehensive article-thank you. I really struggle with this when I talk to cancer patients- especially those whose GI systems or appetites don’t tolerate much dietary fiber or fermented foods and who want to do something. If people want to take a probiotic that is convenient, consistent and affordable, I suggest a lactobacillus based product with a moderate dose assuming it can’t hurt, might help, and the routine/control can create momentum toward better lifestyle choices.

So much to be discovered on this topic, I look forward to better more affordable testing and targeted products for the microbiome. For now, I’m eating fermented vegetables daily and home fermented milk products daily too. So far so good.
